I’ve been looking for a Maltese style bread recipe which I see in these pictures above. Do you mind sharing the one of the Ftira, the bread and the Qaq ta’ l’ghasel, please? I would greatly appreciate it.
I am wondering if in making any of the bread recipes, can non-gluten flour be used. My daughter cannot use gluten and I know she would love some of these recipes. Thanks.
Oh you’re so welcome…I love qaghaq ta’ l-ghasel too but only make them when I have company as the recipe makes a lot or I would end up having to eat them all 🙂 Thank you for your message 🙂

Thank you,

Millie, the ftira recipe is already on the blog…I get great results with this recipe. My friend Karl makes Maltese loaf and it is outstanding…here’s the link to his site…http://karl0415.blogspot.com/2013/03/hobz-tal-malti-maltese-bread.html#.UwDh0kJdX0B
I’ll do the qaghaq ta’l-ghasel in the days to come.
Good luck with the ftira and bread…

WHat is starter can you by in the shope
Hi Mary, I gave instructions how to make the starter. In Maltese it’s called Tnissila. If you prefer you can get it King Arthur Flour http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/items/classic-fresh-sourdough-starter-1-oz?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=Shopping&utm_keyword=Classic+Fresh+Sourdough+Starter+-+1+oz&gclid=CjwKEAiAuc_FBRD7_JCM3NSY92wSJABbVoxBm6zklpi_oCDhcN7YRZYXXlbdzhsqp7LlDkCxdQdpgxoCZqrw_wcB&kwid=productads-adid^170124117023-device^c-plaid^70559718062-sku^1522-adType^PLA
